1 Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;
let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before him with thanksgiving
and extol him with music and song.
3 For the Lord is the great God,
the great King above all gods.
4 In his hand are the depths of the earth,
and the mountain peaks belong to him.
5 The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands formed the dry land.
6 Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;
7 for he is our God
and we are the people of his pasture,
the flock under his care. [Psalm 95:1-2]
This has been such a year.
Wowser!
I had many intentions. I switched gears. I punted. I did new things. I endured disappointments and loss. I adjusted and re-adjusted to the adjustments about fifty times.
And I am thankful, I am. But I am the kind of personality that tends to seek the positive in a situation. And I trust God to do what He promises.
Before life got crazy, I started a “Thankful Jar”. For some reason, around April, it was tucked and somehow it has remained in its place. I need to bring it back out and remember again to verbalize my thankfulness on paper. That heart to brain to hand to paper to eye connection is pretty powerful!
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18.
Giving thanks means I am recognizing that God knows what He is doing, even when the road is very difficult. And it will surely be difficult for all of us in one way or another. But there is always opportunity for thankfulness.
Luther’s Morning Prayer
I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
Blessings on your week!

Happy Thanksgiving Liz! All the best to you and your family! I love the idea of a “blessings’ jar and am adopting it to use. CoviD19 is taking hold here at a more aggressive rate I am sorry to say, more people ill with the disease and now deaths from it locally, sadly including an unborn baby who died directly from it. So much sorrow. So it is a blessing to read about your wonderful idea and I am going to use it starting today! Focussing on the circumstances should never be solely about the negative. Your blessing jar is great! I will share this with my good friend and neighbor who is faithful and she is a true blessing herself. Take care and beware! We will move past this strange time! One blessing at a time!
