Did you ever notice that you often find what you are looking for?
Are you looking for ways to be hurt, offended, annoyed, frustrated or justified? Or are you looking for ways to encourage, bless, love, and celebrate?
If you look for trouble, it’s easy to find. But if you look for ways to encourage people, that could be easy to find too. It’s all in the attitude.
When I have been supremely irritated with Don (and unfortunately, I have been) EVERYTHING he did annoyed me. His walk, his cough, his sneeze–his everything. Thankfully I haven’t been in that kind of space in a long time!!! But when I am grateful for Don’s presence in my life, it’s almost as if he can do no wrong. Almost. Don just goes about his daily ‘Don-ness’ but where I ‘am’ often determines whether he is frustrating. It’s in my attitude.
What are you looking for today? If you have a moment, look at an online Bible or in your concordance and look up ‘seek’. Check out a few verses. What is it God wants you to seek? Ask Him to show you.
Seeking Jesus,
Liz
Liz, I had to laugh when I read this because I know exactly what you mean both ways! Sometimes, Mark just eating his cereal in the morning can be annoying to the point that I just look at him until he looks up at me and says, “What?” Other times I can laugh at him slurping his milk and think he’s so cute. We are strange creatures are we not? I have learned that honesty is always the best policy and we are both at ease with each other enough to say when the other is annoying us and put some space between us. That’s where loving compassion and understanding come in to play. We would all have a little more of this for each other, what a world it would be! Oh, wait a minute, that would be heaven wouldn’t it? What was I thinking? 🙂 Loved this post, you let me know that I wasn’t the only one who did it. God bless, Teresa
