Starting

I used to think waiting was the hardest part but I am realizing that, for me, starting is the hardest part.

You might want to read the Bible (or even just the Old Testament or New Testament) in a year but getting started is the challenge. You want to start at the beginning of the year or the beginning of the month and when it doesn’t happen you just quit the whole idea and decide to do it next year — even if there are still 360 days left. As of today there are 274 days left in the year. I mean, truly, there is a whole lot of Bible reading that can happen. Even if it takes the rest of this year and all of next year to get it done. Speed is not important. The most important thing is the timing. And now is the best time!

Every day is a fresh start, a new day, and an opportunity to do that thing you want to do. Whether it is to reach out to a hurting friend, read the New Testament, start a new Bible study. What is on your list that you have been unable to start?

I am so grateful the Bible reminds us of so may instances of God’s mercies every day. Each day is a new day to restart, reconnect, and refresh in our Christian walk. God gives us all the tools we need. We come empty handed.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
    his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3: 22-23 ESV

As we start a new day let us set aside those things that entangle, burden, or trap us into thinking, “This isn’t good enough.” Let God take your offering and transform it into more than enough to get started and keep walking in His Word and His way.

God’s blessings on your day!
